Scottish Law Firm to Provide Syariah Expert for Muslim
A law firm in Scotland became the first in the country to offer its clients legal representation ‘conventional’ together with the Syariah legal counsel.
Hamilton Burns, based in the south of Glasgow, has collaborated with a leading Muslim scholar who will provide advice to clients on the Islamic aspects of a case of civil law, while lawyers give advice according to Scottish law.
However, critics and opponents have accused the Syariah legal system as discriminatory and sexist, as well as an extension of the law which allows cutting the hands of fundamentalists in countries like Saudi Arabia.
